Biography

Zachary T. Ruetz counsels and defends the interests of clients facing a wide variety of employment and labor issues, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wage-and-hour claims. An experienced employment litigator, Zac has represented clients at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Merit Systems Protection Board, Office of Special Counsel, Office of Personnel Management, New York State Division of Human Rights, and U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Western Districts of New York.

Zac manages matters from inception through completion, including initial evaluation, developing legal strategy, conducting depositions and examinations, drafting pleadings for all phases of litigation, conducting hearings and trials, including cross-examination and oral argument, and negotiating final resolution and settlement agreements. Zac has created favorable outcomes using his outstanding research and writing skills in the large number of cases he has pursued to finality.

Before joining private practice, Zac served as a judicial law clerk to the Hon. David A. Wiseman of the Commonwealth Superior Court for the Northern Mariana Islands, where he drafted numerous judicial decisions in civil, criminal, administrative, disciplinary, and probate matters, and drafted landmark decisions on high-level government corruption at the inception of the casino industry.

Zac currently lives in Irondequoit with his wife, Victoria, and the recent addition of his son, Maxwell. Zac is a seasoned Football coach at Wayne Central High School, and serves as the present Chair of the MCBA’s Young Lawyers Section. In his free time, he enjoys racing, golf, and cycling.
